Have you been to Cedar Bluff? With more than 14,000 acres of water and wildlife area, Cedar Bluff State Park is the perfect destination for campers, hunters, anglers and year-round explorers. Drive to the top of the 150-foot tall, cedar-covered limestone bluffs on the south side of the lake for a stunning view of the area.
Cross Timbers State Park is 1,075 acres located in the gently rolling hills of the Verdigris River Valley and provides many access points to the 2,800-acre Toronto Reservoir. Wildlife watching, nature studyand a multitude of recreational activities like camping, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, picnicking, boating, and fishing are all waiting for you just west of Yates Center.
Tuttle Creek (affectionately known as "Tuttle Puddle" to those who call the Little Apple home) is a beautiful 12,500 acres with 100 miles of rugged, wooded shoreline, and the second largest body of water in Kansas. Boasting 20 miles of trails, including equestrian, mountain biking, hiking and nature trails, Tuttle Creek also offers a challenging 6-mile long mountain biking/hiking trail at the Fancy Creek Area near Randolph. For the disc golfers, there is an 18-hole disc golf course in the River Pond Area, plus you can rent canoes and kayaks (during appropriate weather times) in the River Pond Area. There is a state-of-the-art Shooting Range open the first and third full weekends of each month and a new archery range is now open at River Pond. Take a trip to Tuttle Creek this summer!
Be on the lookout for Prairie Dog State Park! Experience the shortgrass prairies of western Kansas where you'll find a thriving prairie dog colony and the last remaining adobe house in Kansas. The renovated adobe house was built on the site in the early 1890's. They've also moved a school house from the late 1800s to the park. Fishing, hiking, and exploring await you on the northern shore of Keith Sebelius Reservoir, about 4 miles west of Norton and 1 mile south of US-36 on K-261.
